What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

At first I believe that it would be an Independant Film Company that would distribute our product which would maybe need to be crowd funded first to get the funds to keep it going. Although i believe that if we got the film to an independant film festival that we may be able to get backing from one of the big six. One example of an independant film doing well is Paranormal Activity which did well and was later backed by Paramount Pictures.
