Stereotypes within a Thriller Film
The first common stereotype that occurs within thriller films, is that there is always a vulnerable woman, acting as a victim. These women tend to be young and defenseless and usually look for the stronger character in the film. The woman is usually petrified or jumpy and usually creates all the tension and drama in the thriller films as a result of this. All the bad events that happen tend to involve her because she is seen as vulnerable which is why she is often the victim.
A very common stereotype in thriller films, is that there will always be a psycho, that is causing all the action and suspense. The Psycho usually targets the female 'victim' within the plot. They are often seen to be someone that is emotionless and has nothing attached to there persona which causes them to pose a huge threat towards the victim as they seem to have no weakness or flaw. This leads them to be powerful and they would often use low angle shots to show his authority or in the film.
