Props in the Harry Potter Films

From a recent visit to the Warner Brothers Studio in Watford we seen the immense amount of time and effort that goes into the Harry Potter film series. Lots of props were specially hand made for each scene within the Harry Potter Films.

Whilst in the Warner Brothers Studio we visited the set of Dumbledore's office. Within his office were many hand made products ranging from oil paintings and strange objects to Books which were aged to make them look old and battered. The shelves in the office were coated in dust to make it seem like they had been untouched for a long period of time.

We also visited Professor Snape's potion room which had potion bottles of various colours and shapes which individually had to be hand made and labelled with the name and ingredients for the specific potion. These potions were also made to look old and unused too.

Another use of props was within Dolores Umbridge's office. Dolores was a character within Harry Potter that didn't seem to fit within the wizarding world and made to seem annoying and pink obsessive. Dolores loved wearing bright pink which didn't fit with the general atmosphere of Harry Potter and maybe made all the other characters seem darker. In Dolores' office there were many kitten paintings and she liked to keep things neat which contrasted from the untidiness and old feel to the rest of Hogwarts.
